Rewire your nervous system to heal from addiction with these trauma-informed yoga practices. Release. Recover. Reintegrate.
Trauma yoga is a specialized approach that prioritizes creating a safe space where participants can reconnect with their bodies. A side effect of trauma and addiction is living in a disassociated state. Often people in recovery are missing a key component of healing - rewiring the nervous system to function in day to day life, free from substances.
The ultimate goal of trauma yoga is not just physical fitness but fostering emotional resilience, self-awareness, and a sense of agency, helping participants feel safe in their bodies again.
Trauma-informed yoga has been designed to address and help
* Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
* Individuals recovering from addiction
* Survivors of abuse, violence or neglect
* People struggling with chronic stress, anxiety and depression.
This eight-week course offers weekly guided meditations, yoga practices, and one-on-one support for recovery success. It focuses on each of the chakras, delivering themes rooted in the 8 Dimensions of Wellness that support each person as a whole. This course allows you the privacy of working from your own home and on your own time while providing accountability and a community of people working through similar issues. Dig deep and rewire your internal landscape.
I was introduced to a PTSD yoga course while I was searching for a path to sobriety after years of battling alcholism. As I started practicing yoga, I began to notice dramatic shifts in my day to day life. My early days and months in sobriety no longer felt like I was constantly battling demons. When I took an 8-week PTSD Trauma Yoga course, I found ME, as I was meant to be!
I completed my 200 hour yoga teacher training at One Yoga and became even more hungry for the practice. It lead me to take my 300 hour training and continue to search for trauma-informed yoga practices. While in my 300 hour training I began a masters in Addiction Counseling which left me feeling split - I knew I could be a counselor, but the yoga teachings were what saved my life.
I had the opportunity to open a nonprofit with another recovering addict and we used the basic idea that the opposite of addiction is connection -- and to heal from addiction, there had to be a somatic element.
I since have been certified as a mindfulness based stress reduction instructor, and developing yoga and meditation sequencing specific to help assist in recovery.
I am grateful to all my yoga teachers, mindfulness gurus, business coaches, nonprofit coaches, my friends, and family for all the support and grace they have offered me over the years as I have healed through past trauma, grief, identity crisis, and academic pursits.
For without all the missteps, I would have never found my passion.
